A pleasant scent makes us feel good; it seduces us and takes us to special places and moments. That’s why for many of us, choosing a perfume -even a fabric softener- becomes an essential question when buying a product. And if the product is going to be in direct contact with our skin on a daily basis, as in skincare, it’s even more important to us.
That’s why we need to know what’s behind the scent that we’re so attracted to. Is it natural? Is it a synthetic fragrance? If so, are we aware of any risks?
First of all -as we should always do- let’s look at the product’s INCI (International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients) label. If it says “fragrance” (perfume), it means that an artificial scent has been added. And those scents are mostly derived from petrochemicals, such as dreaded phthalates.
We won’t get into the long list of harmful effects that these substances can have on our health, but we do want to stress the importance of knowing whether the fragrance of the product we use everyday is natural or synthetic.
When formulating natural skincare, finding the perfect combination of ingredients for particular skin properties isn’t easy. When achieved, however, we build an exceptional natural fragrance. With sound botanical knowledge, patience and regard to what Mother Nature provides us, we can achieve it – and Palearis serves as a good example of it.
Nature is full of wonderful scents; just take a stroll in the countryside to experience it. That’s why there’s no need to compromise our health with harmful substances. Let’s cherish and enjoy natural fragrances.
